To assist our customers in using the Internet, the Youth Services Department has provided lists of specific sites. These sites are selected in an effort to meet the current and anticipated needs of children, teens, parents and teachers. Sites are selected for their anticipated use as an educational, recreational, informational, or parent-teacher resource.
Internet sites are selected in accordance with the Duluth Public Library Internet Policy. The guidelines used when selecting these sites are based upon the 700+ Great Sites Selection Criteria, developed by the American Library Association. The criteria generally relate to the areas of authorship or sponsorship, purpose, design and content.
The Library's recommendations
apply only to sites listed on our pages and not to external links
from those sites. The Library has no control over information
on the Internet and cannot be held responsible for changes in
the content of any site, including those we select. Also, the
Library does not endorse products advertised on listed sites.
As with all other library materials,
any restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility
of the parent or legal guardian. Parents are encouraged to work
closely with their children to select material that is in keeping
with personal and family values.
