
Who may apply
for a library card?
A library
card is free to any resident of the Arrowhead Library System who
presents acceptable identification. Businesses, schools and other
agencies may obtain an institutional library card for use by their
employees.
Temporary
Library Card
A temporary
card is issued to anyone temporarily living in Duluth or to anyone
without a permanent address.
Non-resident
Library Card:
Minnesota
residents from outside the Arrowhead Library System may check
out materials from the Duluth Public Library. You must present
your current library card from your home library as well as acceptable
identification.
Out-of-state residents may check out materials from the Duluth Public Library for an annual fee of $46.50. A current library card from your home library is required, along with acceptable identification. Other members from the same household may check out materials for an annual charge of $10 apiece.
Please note: Many of the Library's subscription databases are not available to non-resident library card holders.

Please report LOST or STOLEN cards at 730-4200/option 3 immediately; anything checked out
on your card is your responsibility. There is a charge to
replace an unexpired lost or stolen library card.
Change of
address:
Please report any address, phone, or name changes to Circulation
(730-4200/option 3, or talk to checkout desk
staff at the Library).

Data Privacy:
According to the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, library
users must be informed of what private data is being collected,
its uses and disposition (sometimes referred to as the "Tennessen
warning").
By Minnesota law, information you provide in applying for a library card, except your name, as well as information which links your name with library materials is private. It is available only to you and to appropriate library personnel. This information is required to support library service. If you are under age 18, information about materials requested, borrowed or kept overdue is available to your parent or guardian. You may ask to have this information withheld by filling out a data privacy request form. However, we can only withhold this data from your parents if it is in your best interest to do so.
