The Duluth and Minnesota local
history collections are non-circulating, reference collections
containing materials of local and regional interest. In most cases,
materials from these collections may be used in the Library only.
The Duluth Collection:
Duluth's past and present is documented through the materials contained in this collection. A wide range of Duluth-related subjects are covered, including general history, architecture, schools, churches, business and industry, civic concerns, recreation, laws, politics and climate. Books written by or about Duluthians are also found in the Duluth Collection.
The Minnesota Collection:
The Minnesota Collection covers a wide range of state-related subjects, with special emphasis given to St. Louis County, Northeastern Minnesota and Lake Superior. Works by many Minnesota authors are also included.
The Duluth and Minnesota Collections are supplemented by library clipping files, local & regional newspapers and magazines, a slide collection, and the industry scrapbook collection. While materials from the Duluth and Minnesota Collections cannot be checked out, there are duplicates of some titles in our circulating collections. For security reasons, the Duluth and Minnesota Collections are kept in a locked room; please ask library staff for assistance.
