The Media area in Popular Library Sound Media Player shelves   Sound Media Player	Downloadable Books Downloadable books may be Audiobooks that you listen to or eBooks that you read. The Audiobooks are in WMA and MP3 formats. The eBooks are in Adobe EPUB format. The Quick Start Guide will give you information about downloading and links to the software needed. How downloadable books work.   Audiobooks Downloadable Audiobooks See the information above on Downloadable books. Sound Media Players Sound Media Players are self-contained units. Each package holds the triangular player and a battery. Use your own headphones or purchase a set of earbuds from the Main Library's checkout desk staff. Sound Media Player titles Books on Tape and Disc Fiction and nonfiction books on tape and disc are found in the Main Library's Popular Library area. There is separate shelving for audiobooks for children and teens. The branch libraries also have audiobook collections.   DVDs and Videos At the Main Library, feature films are found in the Popular Library area. Nonfiction DVDs and Videos are in the 2nd floor Reference & Information area. How OverDrive Downloadable Books work: The Quick Start Guide will give you information about downloading and links to the software needed. Note: If your library card number begins 22510 and you are unable to download audiobooks or eBooks, check with Library Circulation staff to see that your card has been entered into the Horizon system.   Audiobooks: You need a valid library card from the Duluth Public Library or the Arrowhead Library System. Download the free Digital Media Software to the computer on which you will play the books. Activate the free software (this only needs to be done once.) Select, check out and download the audiobook title(s) you want. You may choose a 1 or 2 week loan period. Play them on your computer or upload them to your iPod or other MP3 player. List of compatible audio and video devices. Some titles may be burned to CD. Limit: a total 10 titles at a time, audiobooks and/or eBooks. At the end of the loan period, the title will expire and be automatically "returned" to the Library. Titles burned to CD or uploaded to your iPod/MP3 player do not expire. Titles may not be returned before the loan period is up. Downloadable Audiobooks will not appear on your Personal Account Information list of materials checked out. eBooks: You need a valid library card from the Duluth Public Library or the Arrowhead Library System. To download eBooks, you will need Adobe Digital Editions software. Download and install Adobe Digital Editions Activate Adobe Digital Editions. Adobe Digital Editions can be activated anonymously or by using an Adobe ID. Anonymous activation allows you to download and read DRM-protected eBooks on a single computer only. Activating using an Adobe ID allows you to download and read DRM-protected eBooks on multiple computers and transfer them to supported eBook devices. More information about activating Adobe Digital Editions. Select and check out title(s) you want. You may choose a 1 or 2 week loan period. Once you have checked out a title, a download page is displayed. Click the 'Download' link to start the download. Once the download is complete, open and enjoy the title. At the end of the loan period, titles will expire and be automatically 'returned' to the library. At this time, you can delete the expired file(s) from your computer. List of compatible eBook devices. EBooks do not work on Amazon Kindles or Apple iPads, iTouch or iPhones. Limit: a total 10 titles at a time, audiobooks and/or eBooks. At the end of the loan period, the title will expire and be automatically "returned" to the Library. Titles may not be returned before the loan period is up. Downloadable eBooks will not appear on your Personal Account Information list of materials checked out.
