Debra Frasier

"A Birthday Cake is No Ordinary Cake"Debra Frasier comes from a family that loves birthday celebrations. (It was the birth of her only daughter, Calla that inspired her book, On the Day You Were Born.) In 1989, when Calla celebrated her first birthday, Debra wrote this sentence on a yellow pad: "She's finished her first circle around the Sun, and now she is one." Mix that scribble with Calla's now eighteen years of birthday cakes; stir in Debra's love of stars, oceans, rivers, trees, canoes, and books-and you have the recipe for A BIRTHDAY CAKE IS NO ORDINARY CAKE. Debra's artwork is used for this summer's Summer Reading Program.
