  • Britannica Online: Kids Edition - A separate homepage for children with age-appropriate encyclopedia content. 
  • Britannica Online: School Edition - Provides access to four encyclopedias that ensure consistency with classroom topics and age-appropriate language. Designed for all levels of learning K-12.

Junior Reference Collection - Middle grade students have quick access to accurate information on your school's most-studied subjects: science, literature, arts, biographies and general reference among others.

Biography.com - Site for the Biography televison program on the A & E (Arts and Entertnainment) Network. Includes a searchable online database containing 15,000 international names, past and present.

CultureGrams - Concise cultural and statistical snapshots of every country recognized by the United Nations. Kids version available. Subscription provided by the City of Duluth/Duluth Public Library.

Languages

Ojibwe People's Dictionary - Talking Ojibwe-English dictionary that features the voices of Ojibwe speakers. Gateway into the Ojibwe collections at the Minnesota Historical Society.

Pronunciator - Learn any language, in virtually any other language. This resource also offers ESL lessons for speakers of 50 non-English languages, downloadable phrase books, and mobile apps. Units that are particularly kid-friendly are marked Kids.

Duluth News Tribune/Newsbank - A searchable archive of the Duluth News-Tribune, with complete full-text content of local and regional news, including community events, schools, politics, government policies, cultural activities, local companies, state industries, and people in the community. Covers 11/1995 - present. Subscription provided by the City of Duluth/Duluth Public Library.

Duluth Newspaper Index - A subject index to articles of regional (northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin) interest that were published in the Duluth News-Tribune and the Duluth Herald. Choose from articles published from 1893-1929 or from 1988-1995. Information on purchasing photocopies of articles is included. Developed and maintained by Duluth Public Library staff.
