Duluth Area Obituary Index

This index contains names and dates of obituaries printed in the Duluth News-Tribune from 1960 to the present, as well as a small selection from the Duluth Herald. Another useful site to try is the St. Louis County Death Records Index, which covers 1870 to 2000.

To search for an obituary:

Fill in one or more of the search boxes below and click on the Search button. When searching for very common last names (such as Anderson, Johnson, Nelson, or Peterson), it helps to enter the first name and/or year of death.

When searching by name, select “Contains" to broaden the search results. Example: if you enter the name "Ward" as a first name, a Contains search will show "Edward" but a Starts With or Equals search will show only "Ward."
